The Akron-Summit High Intensity Drug Task Force exists to substantially reduce organized drug-trafficking activity in the greater Akron/Summit County area by combining the resources of local, state and federal law enforcement agencies to target drug-trafficking organizations whose multi-layered, complex, and conspiratorial relationships have resisted traditional investigative and proprietorial efforts.

  •    Focuses on mid to upper-level drug trafficking organizations (DTOs) operating in the Akron-Summit area.
  •    Supports street-level investigative operations targeting local gangs, persons with histories of violence, and persons known to traffic fentanyl.

The Allegheny County Police Drug Task Force is a collaborative partnership of federal and local law enforcement agencies dedicated to reducing drug trafficking and its associated violence throughout Allegheny County.  Through strategic investigations targeting drug trafficking organizations and violent offenders at all levels, the Task Force works to disrupt and dismantle criminal networks while prioritizing support for underserved communities and enhancing public safety across the region.

 

The mission of the Allen County Drug Task Force is to identify, disrupt and dismantle drug trafficking organizations operating within or with a nexus to Allen County in the Northern District of Ohio.

This initiative is led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Lima Resident Agency and will be comprised of Special Agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Investigators from numerous area agencies, as well as partnering with the United States Customs and Border Protection and the United States Postal Inspection Service.

The Allen County Drug Task Force will facilitate cooperative efforts among federal, state and local law enforcement agencies and resources at the highest level, continually sharing intelligence and providing maximum available resources to reduce the supply of illicit drugs in Allen County and throughout Northwest Ohio.

  

The Beaver County Task Force is a cooperative partnership of the DEA, PSP, Attorney General’s Office, Beaver County Drug Task force and local police.

The Task Force focuses on:

  • Disrupting and dismantling large scale trafficking organizations, (DTOs) operating in and around the Beaver County area
  • Dismantling organizations that are bringing in or facilitating the process of distribution of Fentanyl, Heroin, Cocaine, and Methamphetamine.
  • Interdicting large quantities of narcotics being brought in and out of the area to reduce the amount of OD deaths in our area.

The Butler County Undercover Regional Narcotics Task Force (BURN) is a multi-agency cooperative task force comprised of agents from the Butler County Sheriff’s Office, Oxford Police Department, Hamilton Police Department, Fairfield Police Department, Trenton Police Department, Ohio Parole Authority and the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA). The BURN Unit main mission is to:

  • Investigate, identify, disrupt and dismantle street-level drug traffickers and drug trafficking organizations (DTOs) in and around Butler County, Ohio.
  • Investigate, identify, disrupt and dismantle mid-level drug traffickers and drug trafficking organizations (DTOs) in and around Butler County, Ohio.
  • Target DTOs with a propensity for violence and conspiratorial relations as a means of furthering their illegal endeavors.
  • Investigate and support other agencies with investigations into street-level gangs within Butler County. 

The Cartel, Gang, Narcotics, & Laundering Task Force (CGNL) is an FBI task force led by the Cleveland FBI and Cleveland Division of Police targeting the threat posed by Transnational Organized Crime.

The mission of CGNL is to identify and target Transnational Criminal Organizations engaged in criminal schemes that violate federal laws within the United States and throughout the Western Hemisphere.  CGNL enhances the effectiveness of federal/state/local law enforcement by providing investigative and technical resources as part of joint investigations into these organizations and their local operatives.

 

The Central Ohio Drug Task Force is a multi-agency, multi-jurisdictional law enforcement task force dedicated to identifying, investigating, and prosecuting individuals and organizations in violation of local, state and federal statutes associated with the procurement, sale, distribution and/or manufacturing of illegal narcotics with a nexus to central Ohio.  The main goals of the task force are to:

  • Focus on mid to upper-level drug trafficking organizations (DTOs) operating in the Columbus, Ohio area
  • Support street-level investigative operations targeting narcotics distribution with ties to Mexican DTOs
  • Investigate national and international DTO’s exploiting various mail systems for distribution 

The Cincinnati Law Enforcement Task Force is a multi-agency cooperative effort designed to undermine the impact of transnational organized crime (TOC) narcotics trafficking activity through the identification, investigation, and prosecution of the leaders and other members of the drug trafficking organizations.
The Task Force focuses on combating drug trafficking organizations (DTOs) operating in the Southern District of Ohio (SDOH) and beyond, with particular interest in cartels, TOC, violent gangs, and criminal groups that leverage technology, such as the dark web, to traffic drugs both nationally and transnationally.
The Cincinnati LETF is led by FBI Cincinnati with full-time participating partners to further support HIDTA led cases as a means to dismantle DTOs. These partners include personnel from the following Departments/Agencies:
• FBI Cincinnati
• DEA
• Cincinnati Police Department
• Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office (Regional Narcotics Unit)
• Mason Police Department
• Ohio National Guard
• The United States Attorney’s Office for the SDOH and
• Other local law enforcement partners who contribute to efforts to dismantle DTOs operating in the SDOH.

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Cincinnati Drug Task Force (DTF) is a cooperative partnership of Federal, State and Local law enforcement agencies that cover 12 counties in Southwest Ohio and three counties in Northern Kentucky.

The Task Force is co-located with the DEA Office in Cincinnati, and focuses on the investigation, disruption and dismantling of major drug trafficking organizations (DTOs) and money laundering organizations (MLOs) operating across jurisdictional boundaries on a regional, national and international level.

The Task Force strives to target those DTOs and MLOs importing, transporting and distributing controlled substances and their illicit proceeds that are leading to overdoses and overdose deaths. It is also the mission of this Initiative to coordinate overlapping investigations, ensuring that tactical and strategic intelligence is shared between law enforcement agencies.

The DEA Cleveland Drug Task Force (DTF) is a cooperative partnership of Federal, State, and Local Law enforcement agencies. The DEA Cleveland DTF covers a twelve county area located within the Northern District of Ohio, Eastern Division (NDOHED), including; Ashland, Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Geauga, Holmes, Lake, Lorain, Medina, Richland, Stark, Summit, and Wayne counties. The DEA Cleveland DTF:

  • Focuses on mid to upper level drug trafficking organizations (DTOs) and money laundering organizations (MLOs) operating in the DEA Cleveland Area of Responsibility (AOR).
  • Supports street level to mid-level investigative operations with responsible for and ties to violent crime.
  • Reduce the amount of narcotics and violence to improve the quality of life within the AOR. 

The DEA Columbus Drug Task Force, based at the Columbus District Office of DEA, is made up of 4 enforcement groups and a group of intelligence analysts.

As a whole, the task force focuses on disrupting and dismantling mid- to upper-level Drug Trafficking Organizations (DTO) and Money Laundering Organizations (MLO).

Within the task force, specific enforcement group priorities include a focus on internet/Darkweb drug investigations; coordinating intelligence from numerous agencies to assist in combatting drug overdoses and poisonings; working with other law enforcement entities to combat drug-related violent crime within the area of responsibility, and attacking the infrastructure of Sinaloa and CJNG-affiliated networks operating throughout Central Ohio and beyond.

The DEA Columbus DTF also engages regularly within the community, promoting awareness regarding drug trends and intelligence, as well as conducting outreach efforts to prevent overdose deaths and protect lives.

The Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA) Pittsburgh Drug Task Force (DTF) is a cooperative partnership of federal, state and local law enforcement agencies encompassing 25 counties in Western Pennsylvania and is co-located within the DEAs office in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  

The Pittsburgh DTF focuses on mid to upper-level Mexican Drug Trafficking Organizations (DTOs) operating in the Pittsburgh metropolitan area, while supporting street level investigative operations with ties to Mexican DTOs. The primary drug threats in Western Pennsylvania are counterfeit pharmaceuticals, fentanyl, heroin, cocaine and crystal methamphetamine. 

The Pittsburgh DTFs primary focus is on:

  • Dismantling Mexican Cartel Networks Operating in Western Pennsylvania
  • Preventing Overdoses and Saving American Lives
  • Reducing Violence and Strengthening Partnerships in our Community

The DEA Youngstown Drug Task Force (DEAYDTF) is a partnership of federal, state and local law enforcement agencies encompassing an Area of Responsibility (AOR) consisting of the following Ohio counties: Mahoning, Trumbull, Columbiana, Portage, Carroll, Tuscarawas and Jefferson. The DEAYDTF:

  • Systematically disrupt and dismantle target organizations by arresting/convicting their leaders and facilitators, seizing and forfeiting their assets, targeting money laundering operations and destroying command and control networks. 
  • Focuses on mid-to upper-level Mexican drug trafficking organizations (DTOs) operating in the DEAYDTF AOR.  
  • Supports street-level investigative operations targeting gangs distributing narcotics with ties to Mexican DTOs
  •  Reduce the amount of drugs and violence to improve the quality of life in Northeast Ohio

The Franklin County Drug Task Force (FCDTF) is a collaborative partnership between the ATF, FBI, HSI, the U.S. Postal Service, and local law enforcement agencies serving Columbus, Ohio, and surrounding communities. Co-located with the Clinton Township Police Department, Upper Arlington Police Department, and HSI personnel, the task force works to disrupt and dismantle drug trafficking organizations. FCDTF focuses on mid- to lower-level operations while coordinating with federal partners on higher-level investigations.

The Greene County Agencies for Combined Enforcement (A.C.E.) is a collaborative partnership of federal, state, county, and local law enforcement agencies dedicated to combating drug trafficking and violent crime. A.C.E. is staffed by experienced criminal investigators, with full-time participation from the FBI Cincinnati Field Office/Dayton Resident Agency, Greene County Sheriff’s Office, Xenia Police Division, Fairborn Police Department, and Beavercreek Police Department, and part-time participation from the Greene County Prosecutor’s Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF).

Through coordinated intelligence-sharing, resource integration, and joint investigative efforts, A.C.E. identifies, investigates, disrupts, and dismantles drug trafficking organizations (DTOs) and targets violent offenders operating in and around Greene County, Ohio. The task force prioritizes street-level and mid-level traffickers while supporting the successful prosecution of criminal organizations at all levels.

The Hotel Interdiction Team (HIT) is a cooperative partnership of Federal, State and local law enforcement agencies from across the Northern District of Ohio focused on identifying and intercepting drugs and drug trafficking organization assets being moved through hotels, airports, and transportation hubs/infrastructure. HIT focuses on cartel linked drug trafficking organizations (DTOs) and (MLOs) operating in the greater Cleveland area. HIT also supports street-level investigative operations targeting gangs and organizations with ties to transnational organized crime. 

 

The Cleveland Border Enforcement Security Task Force (BEST), led by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), is a collaborative partnership of federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies dedicated to protecting the Northern District of Ohio from the threats posed by criminal cartels, foreign gangs, and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs). Our mission is to identify, disrupt, and dismantle illicit narcotics and contraband networks entering the region through UPS, FedEx, DHL, and USPS, and to combat cross-border human smuggling and trafficking. Guided by Executive Orders 14159 and 14157, BEST employs all available law enforcement tools to faithfully execute the laws of the United States, safeguard our communities, and eliminate the presence of designated Foreign Terrorist Organizations and Specially Designated Global Terrorists.

 

The purpose of the HSI/PSP Interdiction Task Force is to disrupt and dismantle transnational criminal organizations responsible for importing and trafficking in opioids/synthetic opioids, other illicit narcotics, and counterfeit or misbranded pharmaceuticals into or through the Western District of Pennsylvania.

The HSI/PSP Interdiction Task Force also engages in a cooperative effort to disrupt and dismantle money laundering activities from drug proceeds in furtherance of these transnational criminal organizations.

Additionally, as part of the newly formed Homeland Security Task Force (HSTF), HSI Pittsburgh is half of the Pittsburgh HSTF leadership.  As memorialized in the HSTF Regional Memorandum of Understanding [for] Core Region 27, the goal of the HSTF is to serve as a single, whole of government coordinated effort to combat threats posed to the homeland, to stop the illegal trafficking of dangerous drugs and human beings, eliminate cartels and Transnational Criminal Organizations (TCOs), and the trafficking of firearms.

The Lawrence County HIDTA Drug Task Force is a collaborative enforcement initiative led by the Lawerence County District Attorney’s Office and comprised of local law enforcement agencies, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General (POAG), and other federal and state partnering agencies. The Task Force is dedicated to identifying, investigating, and dismantling drug trafficking organizations operating within Lawrence County and the surrounding region.

Through intelligence-driven investigations, the Task Force targets high- and mid-level narcotics distributors while also addressing street-level drug activity that directly impacts the safety and quality of life within our community. By combining resources and jurisdictional authority, the Task Force enhances the effectiveness of enforcement efforts regarding the distribution of controlled substances in our area.

The mission of the Lawrence County HIDTA Drug Task Force is to reduce the availability of illegal drugs in our AOR, disrupt violent criminal organizations and contribute to supporting our local police agencies for a safer community through coordinated enforcement, strategic partnerships, and proactive investigative techniques.

The Lorain County Drug Task Force (LCDTF) is a cooperative partnership of federal, state, county, and local law enforcement encompassing Lorain County, out to our border with Canada.

The LCDTF is led by the Lorain County Sheriff’s Office and consists of full-time agents from the Cleveland Field Office of the DEA, Border Patrol, BCI and Officers from local municipalities.

The LCDTF focuses on:

  • Mexican Cartels and DTO’s that exhibit tendency towards violence. Operating in the Lorain County area.
  • Street level investigations of fentanyl, cocaine, methamphetamine, marijuana, and controlled prescription drugs.

The LCDTF is led by the Lorain County Sheriff’s Office and consists of full-time agents from the Cleveland Field Office of the DEA, Border Patrol, BCI and Officers from local municipalities.

The South-Central Ohio Major Crimes Unit (MCU) is a collaborative partnership between Federal, State, and local law enforcement agencies serving all of Fairfield and Pickaway Counties, the city of Logan Ohio and the Ohio University area in southeastern Ohio.

The task force which has been in existence since 2001 is collocated in a new facility with the Fairfield County EMA. The Major Crimes Unit has a comprehensive approach that includes long term complex conspiracy investigations focused on mid to upper level drug trafficking organizations and the supply of drugs entering the jurisdiction.

The task force also serves the needs of communities through complaint driven street level / interdiction operations which significantly impact quality of life.

Finally, the Major Crimes Unit has partnered with more than thirty community stakeholders to create Project FORT an outreach / Quick Response Team program focused on connecting survivors of overdose and those who identify as having a substance use disorder with available treatment and recovery options in the community.

PRESCRIPTION DRUGS

  • Conducts hot spot interdiction for various quantities of controlled substances. 

 

The Miami Valley Drug Task Force (MVDTF) is a cooperative partnership of Federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies and is staffed with seasoned criminal investigators from the DEA, Dayton Police Department, Bellefontaine Police Department, Springfield Police Department, Huber Heights Police Department, Miami County Sheriff’s Office, Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, Tipp City Police Department, Trotwood Police Department, Ohio State Highway Patrol and the Ohio Adult Parole Authority.

These agents/officers are professionally trained and uniquely suited to share, develop, and expand investigative leads, teach best practices, and direct investigative resources. The task force is collocated with the DEA office in Dayton, Ohio and focuses on mid- to upper-level Mexican drug trafficking organizations (DTOs) operating in the Dayton metropolitan area while supporting street-level investigative operations targeting illegal narcotics distributors with ties to these Mexican DTOs.

 

The mission of the Northern Kentucky Drug Strike Force is to work cooperatively with all police agencies and the community to form partnerships that will provide the best drug enforcement possible for the residents of Northern Kentucky.  This agency is charged with the responsibility of investigating, apprehending, and prosecuting those involved in the illicit use and distribution of controlled substances, as well as, disrupting and/or dismantling drug trafficking organizations.  This work is combined with our efforts to combat the increased violence associated with illegal drug activities in the Northern Kentucky area.

The Northern Kentucky (NKY) Parcel Task Force is a cooperative partnership of Federal, state, county, and local law enforcement agencies interdicting illicit drugs, weapons and cash transiting to, through and from Northern Kentucky.

The task force is led by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Northern Kentucky and coordinates parcel interdiction through the various shipping centers located throughout the Northern Kentucky area.

The Task Force is centered on the DHL World Hub in Erlanger, KY and is part of the Border Enforcement Security Task Force (BEST). One of the main initiatives enacted is to refer as many seized parcels possible to the appropriate agencies nationwide to coordinate efforts to disrupt and dismantle as many DTOs as possible. 

 

The Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF), under the direction of the United States Marshals Service, operates pursuant to the authority established by the Presidential Threat Protection Act of 2000 (Public Law 106-544), codified at 34 U.S.C. § 41503, which mandates the coordination of permanent, multi-agency fugitive apprehension efforts involving federal, state, and local law enforcement. Within our area of responsibility, the NOVFTF leverages these partnerships to locate and apprehend violent fugitives, disrupt high risk offenders operating across jurisdictional boundaries, and support state and local agencies through coordinated, intelligence driven enforcement operations, consistent with the statute’s directive to enhance public safety through unified and collaborative law enforcement efforts.

Members of the NOVFTF investigate connections to Mexican DTOs and TCOs. The NOVFTF routinely assists the DEA, ATF, FBI, HSI and other HIDTA Task Forces with fugitive cases relating to local, state, and federal drug trafficking offenses.

The NOVFTF is a cooperative partnership of federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies pursuing fugitives in 40 counties in the northern half of Ohio.  Each team focuses on fugitives with a connection to drug trafficking and other drug-related crimes collocated at field offices in Akron, Canton, Cleveland, Lorain, Mansfield, Painesville, Toledo, and Youngstown.

 

The Northwest Pennsylvania Drug Initiative is a unified partnership of federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies serving Erie County and the broader Northwestern Pennsylvania region. The Task Force is dedicated to aggressively identifying, targeting, and dismantling mid- to upper-level drug trafficking organizations (DTOs) operating within Erie County. This is accomplished through the strategic use of advanced surveillance, pen register analysis, intelligence-driven operations, and court-authorized Title III intercepts.

These operations are designed to disrupt and dismantle criminal networks by securing the arrest and prosecution of key offenders, while leveraging investigative outcomes to identify, penetrate, and hold accountable higher-level traffickers affiliated with these organizations. The Initiative remains committed to reducing the impact of drug trafficking and enhancing public safety throughout the region.

 

The mission of the Ohio Highway Interdiction Initiative (OHII) is to promote education, training and collaborative, intelligence-led, unbiased policing in a coordinated and mutually supportive multi-jurisdictional law enforcement effort on Ohio’s highways.  

The strategy of the OHII is to improve the investigative efforts of Ohio’s federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies in attacking drug trafficking organizations, while producing a significant impact on traffic safety, homeland security and other crimes.  

 

The Pennsylvania Highway Interdiction Initiative (PHII) is a Highway Criminal Interdiction operation that is led by members of the Pennsylvania State Police SHIELD Unit, with assistance by the State Police K9 Unit, and interdiction-trained Patrol units.

The purpose of this initiative is to conduct highway criminal interdiction efforts on major highways, interstates, and key transportation corridors and hubs within Western Pennsylvania in order to identify, intercept, disrupt, and dismantle Drug Trafficking and Transnational Criminal Organizations in transit. The task force primarily conducts highway criminal interdiction operations along the I-70, I-76, I-79, I-80, and I-90 corridors.

 

The Southern Ohio Drug Task Force (SODTF) is a multi-agency task force developed to conduct joint criminal investigations and related enforcement operations focused on local and multi-state drug trafficking organizations.

SODTF participants include the Portsmouth Police Department (PPD), the Scioto County Prosecutor’s Office, the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO), and the FBI Cincinnati Field Office Portsmouth Resident Agency (RA).

The SODTF resides in the FBI Portsmouth RA and focuses investigative efforts on narcotics operations in Southern Ohio Region, the Ohio HIDTA designated counties in the FBI Portsmouth RA area of responsibility (AOR). SODTF operations are primarily concentrated on the interdiction of distribution level weights of methamphetamine, heroin and fentanyl.

 

The Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team (SOFAST) is a multi-agency task force comprised of federal, state, and local law enforcement partners focused on the identification and apprehension of fugitives across the 48 southern counties of Ohio.

SOFAST operates through six strategically positioned teams in Columbus, Franklin County, Dayton, Montgomery County, Cincinnati, and Chillicothe, providing regional coverage and rapid operational response. The task force targets violent felony offenders with a direct nexus to drug trafficking and related criminal activity. Through intelligence driven operations and coordinated enforcement efforts, SOFAST disrupts criminal networks and removes high risk offenders from the community.

All operations are conducted with a deliberate emphasis on officer safety and the protection of the public. In coordination with local partners, SOFAST continuously prioritizes targets based on real time intelligence and the evolving threat environment.

 

The Stark County Safe Streets Task Force (SCSSTF) is a cooperative partnership of federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies encompassing Stark, Wayne, Tuscarawas, and Carroll Counties in Northeast Ohio.

The task force is collocated with the FBI office in Canton, Ohio and focuses on disrupting and dismantling the violent crime threat as well as organized drug trafficking organizations operating within the geographical area with ties to the Southwest border and Mexico. 

 

The Toledo Metro Drug Task Force (TMDTF) is a cooperative partnership between federal, state, and local law enforcement in the Toledo metro area. The task force is collocated with the FBI Northwest Ohio Safe Streets and Violent Crime Task Forces. The TMDTF focuses on:

  • Mid- to upper-level drug trafficking organizations (DTOs) operating in the Toledo metropolitan area
  • Supports street-level investigative operations targeting violent gangs with ties to DTOs
  • Conducts interdiction operations at package carriers, hotels, and public transportation hubs

 

The Warren County Drug Task Force (WCDTF) is a multi-jurisdictional task force specializing in the investigation of drug trafficking, prescription drug diversion, money laundering and other drug related crimes. Our primary area of responsibility is all of Warren County, Ohio and the City of Wilmington in Clinton County, Ohio.

The mission of the WCDTF is to provide specialized drug enforcement services to our community, reducing drug trafficking crimes and other related criminal activity. This is accomplished by combining manpower and resources from various local, state and federal law enforcement agencies. We remain the only law enforcement group in our jurisdiction targeting drug trafficking offenses on a full-time basis, with a primary focus on mid to upper-level offenders and criminal organizations.

The Warren County Drug Task Force operates from a semi-covert facility in the greater Warren County area. Our Task Force is co-located with multiple local, state and federal law enforcement agencies, combining resources and working together toward a common goal which allows us to operate more efficiently. These combined resources allow us to focus on international and multi-state criminal organizations, while simultaneously targeting local and street level organizations. This collaboration of resources results in a better coordinated effort to address all levels of drug trafficking and abuse with a concentrated effort toward mid to upper-level offenders.

 

The Western Pennsylvania Fugitive Task Force (WPAFTF) is led by the United States Marshals Service (USMS), and supported by Federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies.

This multi-agency approach brings in local officers from designated area and combines their local investigative capabilities with federal personnel who investigate connections to Mexican Drug Trafficking Organizations (DTOs) and Transnational Criminal Organizations (TCOs). The WPAFTF routinely assists the DEA, ATF, FBI, HSI, and other HIDTA Task Forces with fugitive cases connected to local, state, and federal drug trafficking offenses.

The WPAFTF is a cooperative partnership made up of various federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies. The Task Force’s main objective is to locate and apprehend dangerous and violent fugitives. The WPAFTF focuses most of their investigative efforts in the Western District of Pennsylvania, which is made up of 25 counties. The Task Force has three offices, which are located in the cities of Pittsburgh, Erie, and Johnstown. Each team focuses on capturing fugitives with a connection to drug trafficking and other drug-related offenses.

 

The Westmoreland County Drug Task Force (WMDTF) is a cooperative partnership of Federal, state, and local Law Enforcement agencies encompassing Westmoreland County.  The WMDTF focuses on:

  • Disrupting and dismantling drug trafficking organizations within Westmoreland County
  • Supporting investigative operations on drug traffickers utilizing the interstate system within Westmoreland County
  • Prioritizing cases of nature which may be prosecuted in Federal court, as well as in State court
  • Coordinating and working simultaneously with other HIDTA task forces around our area
